quite a few horror stories about these splitting and leaking "long range" amounts of fuel on hot cylinders!
they are however cheap and i quite like the style, but surely a false sense of economy if it is less safe/reliable than the original unit?

im using a stainless one which leaked at the seam in a short space of time, ive welded it and pet sealed it and its been fine since,id advise pet seal to be used as a safeguard

I've had two, both "ordinary" mild steel. One has only just been fitted and so its early days. The other has been fine apart from when I dropped the engine and the engine mount snapped off the fuel tap causing a massive leak and an even more massive panic!
If you do get one I'd make sure you seal it before use. Petseal can crack and so I used that red goo that has been mentioned by a few people. Be careful with it though. It is an effective paint stripper.

The trouble with those and other long range tanks is that you lose the toolbox. the saigon ones give you a usefull few litres extra but let you keep everything else the same (apart from the airbox obviously)

He will incorpate a toolbox at the front of the tank on these ones (180x130x140mm deep) and you still have a large tank..ArmandTanzarian wrote:The trouble with those and other long range tanks is that you lose the toolbox. the saigon ones give you a usefull few litres extra but let you keep everything else the same (apart from the airbox obviously)
