Yes, the Agusto 6000 made a huge difference to the low rev delivery with the Franspeed Supertourer.

If you do fit an Agusto, or any advance/retard system, then you really do need to know what the initial firing point is, along with the max retard figure and at the revs that it operates at. You can't really bolt on and guess. Indeed, I found that I had to elongate my stator adjustment slots a long way to allow it to range from something like 24 degrees down to 14 degrees. Without making this modification it started early and retarded early, losing me power throughout the rev range.... however, elongating the slots to allow an earlier starting point has given me the function that I was looking for, with massively improved low rev grunt (launch and initial acceleration). Get it wrong though and you'll burn holes in pistons!

700 miles after building my TT3 on a ropey SX donor engine, thought i'd post my experience. 1st build ended badly after NOT torquing up the flywheel nut ! Cost me a £200 AF crank and huge dent to ego! Thought Id got the timing set up wrong (hence taking off the flywheel) when actually it was a leaking float bowl in the delly! 2nd build with MB crank and replacement 2nd gear, BGM flywheel etc, kicks over on choke always 2nd/3rd go. Running std SX 200 gearing, with a Franspeed Touring pipe currently. 30mm delly open mouthed,AV266 120 main 55 pilot, x7, 3rd notch on needle. Whizzes up through 1st and second really quickly upt o ~40mph, 3rd runs up to ~62 and Sunday was clocked by my Bro n law on his speed triple at 80 on the flat with the clutch slipping. Its been slipping in top on full chat for a few weeks now (since I passed 600 miles and had the balls to ride it like I was stealing it). Not sure if Sureflex needs stronger springs or I need to change the oil, going to do the latter this w.e. Theres definatley more mph there. Thing I like most is 3rd will pull nicely from 35 and like a train from 40. Am waiting for cyclone 5 speed box to come (like christmas) which I think will make it even better, then I might change to Franspeed race after that hearing what Ron has told me and seeing other posts. I have to say that Ron has been tremendous help giving freely and often advice to me (who hadn't put a spanner to a Lammy engine for 30 years, and wasn't very competant back then!) Have learned a lot and very pleased with the outcome thus far, now looking fwd to improving it further. Anyone else experienced Sureflex clutch slipping?

My 5 plate clutch slipped like mad when I put the Avanti top end on it. Fitted a set of MB springs and took time experimenting with various thickness steels and corks until I got a 1.5mm clearance between the plates with the clutch fully compressed and that cured it completely, nice light lever action too 8-)

Certainly is, one of my other loves ;) 1970 Ltr V6.....the scooter in the photo is an Li 125 Special (TS1) which now I think of it has a similar clutch set up which also does not slip 8-)

After a lay up of 6 months following a prang I finally got my Avanti back on the road last night.
In its absence I've been mainly riding "proper motor bike"
What a joy to get back on the scoot, my riding style has changed as you might expect with 90 brake and 70 odd torques to play with.
Sitting in a high gear and riding off pipe is my new thing.
the Avanti is a dream for this style pulls 4.6 fourth from 35 mph
Hayling tomorrow, Happy Days

OK, so I have enjoyed a 2 week change of pace, whilst tweaking a standard iron 150 to 175 motor and getting it set up for some general regular use, however, I dug my Avanti back out last night as I need to blow off the cobwebs for IoM soon. OK, so I’ve enjoyed the quiet 175 along with its fantastic fuel consumption and generally pleasurable riding experience but I returned home with serious grin factor after putting the Avanti through its paces.

I felt a little like a menace :)
