this depends on the tank ,the only one i use and recommend is the 'diablo tank',
packers under the barrel and different manifolds alter the position of the carb, the diablo one fits all that i have used,ts rapido rb dellorto, amal, mikuni, kehin and many more with all sorts of manifolds.
the vietnamese stainless has a slim cut out ,useless unless you use a long carb rubber![/quote]

Cheers, sounds like the tank is the problem! I wondered if longer carb rubbers were available,do you know where i could get one and are they safe to use or do they affect fuel flow/rate?

So i finally got out on mine for its first proper run!
Its a bit boggy on pulling away and when changing gear so probably a bit rich at the moment, but other than that very happy!
Hard work staying below 45 and can barely get into 4th gear!!!!

My set up is:

MEC 60mm crank
AF road clutch
47x20 sprockets = 4.7:1
30mm delly no filter
JL3 pipe

Wanna go out on it again now damn this weather!!!!!

Lol, I know what you mean, I've had the clutch apart on my TS1 so took it out for a spin late this afternoon. Got it up into 4th and though, wow, it's really flying, effortless up to nearly 70mph.....then I thought about the tail wind (Gale Force  )....the return leg was a LOT slower, WOT in 4th at 45mph, up hill into a ferocious head wind.

UPDATE:

Firstly my apologies for lateness of the update for 2013, a slow start due to crank upgrade and work commitments !, the year started slowly as I decided to upgrade the crank to ensure the longevity of the kit, Dan kindly donated a jap rod and bearing and a good friend Chris Murphy (ISV Scooters in Hull) paid AF Rayspeed a hasty visit to dismantle the SIL webs and rebuild with the jap rod, on its return my good mate Micky Harford volunteered to rebuild and replace all the bearings (thanks Mr corrado) in the engine due to me working 7 days (im a busy man) once rebuilt and bolted in the frame and with work commitments calming down coincidently in tune with what turned out to be a beautiful and scooter rally friendly summer :D.

First 500 miles slow steady and tedious ! then she came back into her own, ongoing tweeks to the dellorto and after more plug chops then i dare to mention she was again unleashed...the power delivery is immense through all gears and the new crank set up really seems to have changed the engine note and it feels smoother added to the fact im now running the avanti race franspeed which has transformed the power delivery from good to completely crackers :D the power is instant and on tap and just pulls through the rev range effortlessly and doesnt really seem to run out of legs tbh.

Mid summer has seen me attend various rallies with no running issues at all and the added bonus of full throttle, fully loaded hungover Sunday morning rides home :D.

All in all the Avanti over the past few years ive been running it has been faultless tbh albeit as with all kits the sum of components in the engine really needs to be up to the job to unleash its full potential, its been a journey of trail and error for myself but feel now the engine is faultless (thats just jinxed it lol) and with the added bonus of Rons improved cooling really does make it a great kit..

Unfortunately autumn work madness (again) has seen me miss out on few ride outs and rallies, Brid last weekend being one i was gutted to miss out on has curtailed more miles on the clock, this has been probably my greatest experience of a Lambretta engine in 30 years of riding Lambrettas (i first rode our kids when i was 14 lol) and ive owned TS1s as well :D, all in all ive put on around 1200 miles this year, not as many as i would wish to do but work pays the bills :D

What mods (if any) need to be carried out to convert to reedvalve?

Fitting the LTH reed you need to file the lug and the back of the reed block.....or fit a bigger rod and packer plate. You'll have to trim some of the fins obviously. The reed improves it fuel economy wise but I can't answer the how far test until it's 10c and above ;)
