I'd say that would suit it down to the ground as long as you can get the sprockets you need for the right final drive ratio.

I like this kit and I also like the Rimini 5-speed, and see no reason why this wouldn't be a very nice combination :)

Next thing to decide on is the carb & clutch you're going to use Russ (and the crank, flywheel, ignition.) Decisions, decisions :D

The last 2 or 3 years,
I use the LTH 7 plate clutch,
I have forgotten what a clutch problem means.
Highly recommended.

Regular updates posted frequently throughout the year Paul..you will have to back track through the pages

All in all its ran very well indeed throughout the season and has notched over 900 miles now, a few niggles along the way not really attributed to the kit directly as I kept on eating clutchs..4 plate died then 5 plate died and finally went up to 6 plate and pinpointed poorly manufactured springs.. ..this was remeded with some superb MBD strong springs which instantly cured the trouble and although a 6 plate is over the top its the best clutch I have ever used so it will stay..

A few carb problems around the 600 mile mark this again has been remeded thanks to Rons input re the atomiser change and needle (a couple of pages ago).the last run out (Elvington last sat) really showed the kit now coming to its potential and was dream to ride, quick/strong and very smooth and made easy work of climbing them hills on the way to York..

After Bridlington will be the time to get it back to Dan and let him check everything over and have a play with it, at which time I think its due the 2nd instalment for the magazine also so readers can be updated of its progress also..(not certain though)

:D

Update on Kit 47.5 Elvington.

After cleaning up the piston, bore and fettling timings and squish it was fitted and running again Friday Afternoon and finally left for Elvington and arrived in the early hours.

The first batch of 1/8 miles i was probably 5-6 mph down on previous using Phbh carb going against the radar system used at Lcgb 65th

Morning results
1/8 th mile 61-63 mph 1/4 62.9-63.4 mph

Change of clutch plates was needed ready for the afternoon session, unfortunately i did find the problem with clutch..... The inner part similar to a pressure plate had only been contacting with approx 50% of the friction plate but thats another story.

Clutch plates changed and we are back in business again, thought i would also change the carb to Vhsh that i had been playing with and power and times were increasing.

Better results
1/8th mile 65-66.7 mph 1/4 mile 74.1-77.2 mph

Bearing in mind head wind i was happy with the days tinkering :D

At this point clutch was on its last legs and decided not to kill it off on flyers as was needed this week but managed 5th overall in road class (no. 92)

There is definately more to get out of this motor and still use it as my rally/sprinter hack

Watched the racing Sunday and toured the pits for ideas before collecting 3 french ld's on the way home

Top weekend and brought fond memories of the old grass tracking days back :x except with a more relaxed feel to it, run when you feel like it approach

i'll strip it down at weekend to see how its fairing, but so far so good with no plating issues to date

Any one else tinkering with the kit ?
