If I get to an age where I can't clutch anymore, this will be on my shopping list.
Remember the first Minis in 1959; diabolical ! Now look at their success.
As "10 Inch Terror" has yet to reach 50 I doubt that he remembers much at all about 1959. ;)
Everything after 1989 is a blur mate :D

Yeah and there's a good reason why they can be had brand new for £700! To compare the two is ludicrous. I've seen Chinese scooters close up ( my nephew and his mates all had them ) and I've seen a Scomadi up close. They are two completely different animals.
OK, well as I said, I think you are looking for people to give you an excuse to buy one by saying how great they are. I've also seen both close up, frankly if you think they are different beasts, good luck to you. Im out.

Made in Spain, made in India, made in China......life has moved on since Innocenti closed.

:D :D :D
Seems to imply the scomadi is a lambretta???  It ain't. :D
Lol....no such implication was made. I'm very aware of the branding. My point is.....Innocenti closed down decades ago and good scooters have been made all around the world since.

Of course we favour Lambretta and Vespa....it's our 'thing'. But you are suggesting EVERYTHING made in China is crap, but I dare say a lazy day at Eibar or SIL may well have produced a few 'Friday afternoon' scooters which were less than reliable too! But in your opinion, that's OK because they are Lambretta and so somehow excusable....?

The fact is, original Italian Lambretta scooters are getting harder to find, more expensive to buy, and more costly to maintain.

Scooters like the Scomadi, the GTS (and hopefully the new Lambretta later this year?) will provide OPTIONS for people who maybe can't afford an original machine, or who want something new with warranty, or who maybe just fancy a change?!?!

To at least have the option is a great thing.

What makes me laugh, and sometimes even sigh, is how staunchly some people resent these machines. I mean just look at this thread, it's one example of many where people can't help but p155 on the 'new scooter parade'. I can understand a passing opinion, or a comment to say 'yes I like them because....' or a passing comment to answer the original post, saying 'I don't like them because.....'. But it's worse than that, much worse.....some people on this, and many other threads seem outraged by these scooters, and have felt compelled to make a whole heap of posts saying 'it's Chinese' 'it won't last' 'not for me' 'I'm out' 'I'm still out' 'I'm definitely out' repeat, repeat, repeat.

OK, we heard you the first time (and the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, etc) we get it......you don't like Scomadi!!! lol :)

I read your mind and made that interpretation to suit my early morning, coffee fuelled post......it sounded better in my head.

Well the scomadi owners I've spoken to all seem content with their purchases, that isn't to say some aren't. I don't dislike the look and am fairly ambivalent towards them. Would I ride one? Yeah why not. Would I buy one, probably not because I like tinkering.

I must say round here though the numbers of Modena scooters is massive, now that is a cheap and easy way to get into scootering. They look OK to me, (cept for the s**t rear light of course lol).

Variety is good, and doesn't somehow dilute the "classic" scene IMO

I like the look of the Modena and at £1249 you could almost chuck it away if it breaks.

Top speed is 56 MPH so you can keep up with chums on their Lambretta's quite comfortably

I'm not so sure about the "doesn't somehow dilute the "classic" scene" as that's exactly what it, and all the other auto's are doing. (IMHO).
Did you have to do that?

I've said it before, I think the Scomadi is a great alternative and I will probably get one in the next couple of years, because I can, but only to run alongside my vintage lambrettas and vespas.

Quite a few in our group have also gone the Modena way and they are as pleased as punch. Its a cheap and easy way to get into 2 wheel scootering. I also don'y mind the GTS for its practicality, but I don't do enough rallies to warrant getting one.
