IMO a reedvalve would really finish this kit off and make it the ultimate allrounder..sharp around town and touring on the motorway..I reckon im getting around 40 ish to the gallon what you guys getting ??psychedelicropcircle wrote:Same as andy can open the throttle and feel it lagging then as I close it off a little it picks up. It feckin loves motorways although it loves a drink on the motorways. Still got to get a filter to work on it and if not reed valve it over the winter.

Done over 1500 miles on mine now. Running sx200 gearing with an adige 5 plate clutch, avanti clubman and a 30mm phbh with a breathing sweet filter.just stripped it down to check it out and fit a new set of rings. Matched the casing to the barrel while it was apart. It's fitted into a series 2 so not very aerodynamic. It pulls all of my 18+ stone at over 70. I have had it up to 74 according to my gps and that ties in with the rpm I was pulling at the time so I think it's pretty accurate. Just waiting for rons new clubman to come out to see if it improves it any more. Out of all my scoots I have to say the avanti gives the most grin factor
slightly weak on your chosen needle or its a characteristic of the kit?psychedelicropcircle wrote: can open the throttle and feel it lagging then as I close it off a little it picks up.

I've got a JL3 on mine and it also hesitates like that but I just drop down a cog and it's through it straight away. I assumed it to be a fine tuning of the jetting issue which I haven't altered from Ron's installation instructions as I was waiting to finish runn ing in before I started caning it.psychedelicropcircle wrote:Same as andy can open the throttle and feel it lagging then as I close it off a little it picks up. Wouldn't it be advisable to use Ron's jetting advice as a guide only and jet your carb as you see fit as in seat of the pants stuff? Doesn't 2 stroke carb jetting differ depending on the climate? Just something I read somewhere. What might be good in the winter might not be good in the summer and if your engine picks up when you close the throttle a bit, isn't that running weak?

A perfectly tuned 2-stroke engine/carburetor delivers a 12.5 to 1 air to fuel ratio. .... read information and make a great companion to your factory service manual.
Hope this is helpful.

SET UPS NEEDED,stop grinning you lot and tell us your carb/details,pipe and ignition, and any issues if any!joespeed wrote:had a conversation with ron moss this weekend, the new clubman style exhaust looks good, and with further improvements to be made to made so its a good fit following the contours of the lambretta engine case.
ron needs some feed back on how these kits are going and also your set ups, carb, exhaust, ignition, and dyno figures with jetting details of the carburettors for comparison and evaluations.
this is not me asking i only have an indian cast thing! it is to help ron with a data base.

Absolutely, Ron's setings are only a guide by 1000 miles of running in takes some time. Done my running in now so when I get a chance I'll be doing some fine tuning. When I'm sure it's sorted I will give Ron the details for his databaseMel K wrote:Wouldn't it be advisable to use Ron's jetting advice as a guide only and jet your carb as you see fit as in seat of the pants stuff?

Standard 15/46. Was running a 16/46 set up but the clubman wasn't quite up to it with it being a series 2 and me being a portly chap. Ron reckons the mk 2 avanti clubman should be better so will try the 16/46 again thencoaster wrote:What sprockets do you have on yours?gp200ts1 wrote:Done over 1500 miles on mine now. Hi All
Had a long day on Friday, set off 5.30 am!!! to go to Al at Diablo's with Derek (Jazzy on here) & my own bike for a jetting session and test the prototype clubman.
Dereks se up:
LI150 gearbox 46 / 17 sprockets = 4.6:1
NF road expansion box
Dellorto 30mm PHBH
ended up with
AV 266 atomiser
122 Main Jet
X13 needle 2.5 notches ( 2 + washer)
65 pilot jet
This set up clears the bogging down when changing into 4th gear some might even go down to a 120, plug chops a must.
Mel K is right I can only give a guide, everyone is using different exhausts & gear ratio's.
It is easy to sort out the top end but 1/4 throttle is the danger area, if you are running weak at this point you stand a good chance of blowing a piston.
My own bike is running on a 4.6:1 ratio, when on the flat if I take it up to 60mph on the clock and back it off to 50mph it is running at 1/8 throttle, 5 - 10 miles on a weak mixture and you will hole a piston.
I will post up a graph tonight of Dereks results on the dyno.
