If it helps.......my understanding of a cht reading on an air cooled 2 stroke is up to about 200 degrees c is safe if the sensor is mounted under the plug. I've looked into getting one and when i looked it up in a 2 stroke tuning book i've got thats what it says.
There is going to be good sensors and not so good ones i guess.

Hi , Number 62 is up and running here in Australia. Setup is
Pilot 50
AV266
NeedleX7 2nd clip
40 Slide
125 Main
Augusto 6000
Ron Moss Clubman
LTH Reed (yes it does fit) except I can't fit an air filter on it as is too close to panel.
Tried a Camlam Breath Sweet but no room.
Will cut a hole in panel as have to have filter, this is a dusty country !
Now to run it in. 800 miles

Did you do anything else to the engine apart from fitting the reed block, like cutting windows in the piston?

Sorry for the delay about the jetting, had a few issues with the customers bike which were unrelated, like knackered rear hub bearing, after fitting a new one, layshaft did not line up with the back plate and was locking up. And so on and on.........................
Any way,
Set up
30mm PHBH
Gearbox LI150 46/17 sprockets = 4.6:1
AF NK road / rally exhaust
Standard weight flywheel
Tried various needles but reverted back to the X7
Atomiser A264
X7 needle 2nd notch
125 main jet
45 pilot jet.
300 float needle jet
100% these carb settings are for this exhaust only, customer only collected this yesterday and is doing more plug checks today.
This machine has had various exhausts on and it has always needed to change the pilot jet to suit the exhaust, main jet has in general remained the same.
My own bike is using a 30mm VHSH and needs more miles on it, only done 45!
needs more time on the pilot jet and needle settings but is very close.
Atomiser DQ 262
Needle K98 1st notch
Main jet 125
Pilot 55
Franspeed Avanti race pipe
gearbox LI150 46/16 sprockets = 4.9:1, this is set up to test the new Avanti Clubman which will arrive tomorrow.
LTH 7 plate clutch.
The New Avanti Clubman prototype will be at the Euro on Andy Francis Stall.
I am going to the factory on the 14th to finalize a few modifications so please do not ask for performance figures yet.
Suffice say I would not be producing another Clubman if it were not better than the last.

Yes there is a window in the piston and a cut out of the skirt to give 360 degree inlet.

Has anyone mated up an avanti kit with a 30mm pwk type carb and a jl3 pipe? I am going to need the base jetting sizes when I fit the kit at the weekend.
Can anyone help please?
Cheers

Ron e-mailed the following to me when I asked him for a ballpark for the above
"The customer running one of the 30mm carbs has a 140 main jet with a
>50 pilot but is using one of our clubman exhausts, this at least will
>give you a starting point."
I ended up using a delly with mine

I'd be interested too, I have a 3 PHBH on mine but I also have a 28/30 PWK and a box full of jets and needles which I'd like to fit so that I can get a filter on.

Had an email from Ron, he has tried to contact a customer who runs this carb set up, to ask for base settings that are something like. He has no reply as yet, but I will post up in here when he gets back to me with the info.
