Yep you would be right. Hmm after running in and letting rip, perhaps 20 maybe 30miles and it was toast.

Elderly gent dave can you say which clutch you burnt out? So I know wot to avoid in my tt3 build. Hoping I dont have to go to a cassette clutch.

which 5 plate clutch? I dont think it really matters with the gear ratios I have. For this sort of a setup I think you will have to expect to invest in a very strong clutch.

Overall I'm very impressed, this kits power delivery is unlike any lambretta engine I have experienced. It's a very strange sensation. I can pull away and just click up through the gears. I don't have to plough on the revs and I feel my arse sliding up the back of the seat, I hit 4th gear and its surprising what speed its built up.

How does it compare to the RB20, well they are completely different the RB achieves its speed by ploughing on the revs, it's like a hot summers night and some horrible little fly is dive bombing you when you're trying to sleep, horrible bloody thing. But the Avanti can achieve the top end speed and do it all with no drama its a pleasure to ride and you don't feel like you're raggin your granny. For a touring engine which is its purpose I think its perfect you can happily cruse at high speeds, open the throttle and go some more. You are able to do all this at such low rpm which instantly makes me feel more comfortable, I'm not so worried about sh*t happening and I feel it could reliably go for many many miles.

Having been out for a good play today I think there is more yet to come from the Avanti, I feel like with the ADS3 pipe on it I need a 5th and 6th gear. 4TH pulls so strong it feels like it could easily pull more. I think I have two choices here. Gear it up even more (which is what Ron said do from the outset) maybe an 18 tooth front sprocket to take it to 4.1. Or change over the pipe to the franspeed tour but I'm told I will need to gear down to 4.6 for that to work its best, so I'd be heading down the road of a more revy bike, I'm not sure I want that.

What sort of speeds were you getting (GPS or clock ?)

Hopefully mine will be out for a test ride next week but the running-in looks to be a bit of a drag (45 mph for 250 miles...just like the good old days !)

If exhaust arrow is 6 o'clock the pegs are at 1oclock and half way between 10 and 11.

Fitted my friends barrel on a spanish case gave right squish with thinnest gasket and good clearance on mag housing.

Was that with the LTH reed fitted? if so did you do any other mods to increase the inlet timing?

I use a Trail tech Vapour so pretty accurate ........... we exceeded 70 mph just...... but then we was mainly on B roads as tw@7 on RB20 not passed his test yet
