Sounds very much like a stator fault to me. Another (dire) possibility is that the crank is twisted and not sealing on the mag side. Check the flywheel doesn't have any "run out" when kicking it over with the plug removed.

looks like a engine strip then

Gary, did you change the stator or just measure the resistance of both? The black pick up can do some funny things. just cos it says it's ok doesn't mean it is. Have you really swapped an indian stator for a BGM or visa versa or just measured them on the bench. You'll never know if the pick up is f@@ked unless you swap it for a known good one.
Good luck. It could have been worse a holed piston.

But you are used to them.
i put the bgm one on about 4 months ago but the one i took off was still workin , bgm was tested on scoot , even if u hav good readings could it still not work? the petrol was put in 3 or 4 days ago and has been used couple times and was runnin fine, this is doin me head in lol

It's not something as simple as a stuck float is it?

i'm having the same problem with my series one. Kick it over, it'll fire for a few revs then die out. From water inthe gas to shaged stator, i've tried "it all". But I lke the stuck float idea, the carb has been a consistent variable in all my tests. Hmmmm.
