That may sort out leaness at wot but when you reach speed and back off that's where problems can occur. In regards to "is it ok to run without a filter"......well years ago myself and friends with TS1's used to run without filters no probs although you did get a nice run of oil down the sidepanel and floorboard
personally taking my filter off made little difference but I do tend to run slightly on the rich side
