cheers Mike
the pics are brilliant - collecting my forks tomorrow so the bracket and collar can be done next week along with all my frame mods - welders gonna be busy next week
My forks just need the collar welding on as there is no dust cover on my frame
on a s2 related thing I`m going to make some cut down rear boards for the project but need to know the length of the straight edge that lines up with the edge of the legshields before it flares out - hope that makes sense
Wondered if you had a set if you would be kind enough to measure for me
happy new year and thanks again

I cut the back off each runnning board and then cut them to match the bend of a outside running strip of a vespa, then welded them to the running boards. You then need to cut some of the inside of the running board where they close up under the bridge piece/loop. This allows you to remove the whole lot in one easy go without scratching anything. It doesnt matter about the bit your cutting away as it cant be seen and the amount of metal you need to take away will depend on your exhaust set up. Granted this is a lot more bother than buying some cut down ones and removing your old ones but for my money the final look is better and does away with any gap issues between legsheilds and runners. I always struggle trying to get the gap right for both the size and level so this solves that problem. The shortened runners seem to highlight any gap issues as well i think.
Back to the post, I would also be intrested in seeing your ideas with series 2 runners. Im going to do something with mine. Im sort of toying with the idea of taking a 20m strip out of the length of it and then re welding the edge back onto the now thinner runner, with the idea being that they still have the same curved radius but are a lot closer to the legsheilds. Maybe make them taper into the rear a bit more as well. Only issues i have is it would mean cutting the legsheilds to match the now narrower runners. Would also have to cut the struts down as well but as mines an API im not to bothered....
