lol ,but you have to take into account the cylinder head volume as well as the power stroke to calculate comp ratios surely...is the avanti kit higher comp than say many other kits ..no

If the Avanti has a 10:1 head (in uncorrected) and a TS1 has a 10:1 head (in uncorrected) then the TS1 will be lower compression in the real world and easier to kick over because the actual trapped volume is lower due to the taller exhaust port. Am I wrong?sean brady scooters wrote:lol ,but you have to take into account the cylinder head volume as well as the power stroke to calculate comp ratios surely...is the avanti kit higher comp than say many other kits ..no
Can we just leave it as the fact that I think its harder to kick over than the barrel fitted before, and so does Andy who has the one you built

it may of course feel a bit harder to kick over but only cos its new as opposed to an older TS1 maybe thats been well run in with a few miles under its belt but the fact is ...its the over all comp ratio that makes the difference

So is the 'all over comp ratio' the corrected or uncorrected one Sean?sean brady scooters wrote:it may of course feel a bit harder to kick over but only cos its new as opposed to an older TS1 maybe thats been well run in with a few miles under its belt but the fact is ...its the over all comp ratio that makes the difference
If you believe this statement is wrong and I believe it is right, would you like to have a little wager on who is correct - say £100?If the Avanti has a 10:1 head (in uncorrected) and a TS1 has a 10:1 head (in uncorrected) then the TS1 will be lower compression in the real world and easier to kick over because the actual trapped volume is lower due to the taller exhaust port.

omg I cant believe your getting so silly on this sticky as its no big deal is it ...the fact is that the avanti kits are not hard to kick over and start as andy has said his starts first time every time ...and they are not really high comp ratio are they so just drop it hey plz

You don't know me very well thensean brady scooters wrote:omg I cant believe your getting so silly

If you are going to start shouting people down, and telling them they are wrong when they believe that they are right, then what do you expect to happen?
Is this another red wine evening Sean?
Can we move on now then

ThTs the trouble with dynos they can be very deceptive.gtwildcat wrote:It states power spread is narrow, I would have thought that would be a major disadvantage in a kit being sold as a touring kit? Looking at the dyno charts on rons website it would appear to have a very narrow powerband compared to say an RB225?
If the chart was to show power to road speed rather than revs (with gearing that the engines can realistically pull) the spread of The Avanti would be wider and something like rb would be steeper.
It's all about gearing, as the Avanti makes it's power lower it will pull higher gearing getting more speed from less revs.
You realy should try riding one.

Agreed, and its a nice experience as well coming out of tight bends catching it on the pip and launching away.Jazzy wrote:Avanti makes it's power lower
