Will this work on a Vespa if I change my indicator relay to a DC version?

Thanks Mike, I'm biting the bullet and ordering one. Already got a flywheel puller and holder on order. :bigsm:
With a xenon bulb up front the rear LED light looks like it's lit with a birthday cake candle.
Can the soldering be done with the stator in place so as not to disturb the timing?

No, for a start it would be difficult to be sure that you had made a good job of the soldering but mainly because the stator will have to come out to thread the new wire. Just scribe a mark on the stator and mag housing to make sure it goes back in the same place.

My stator, I assume the white wire circled which is already earthed and goes up to the CDI unit still needs earthing?
And I just un-earth the end of the coil (that is also earthed at the same point) and connect my yellow to this.
It looks the same as -

I just took my stator off my GP to do this conversion.
However the colours do not match the stator shown.
It looks to me that the white wire is connected to the earth already.
I have a ducati stator, would this be what is used in a GP Electronic?
If so would you still do the conversion & where does the extra connection go?

Oh and anyone going to attempt this be warned. A 15 minute job it ain't, I'm finding it nigh on impossible to get at one of the screws that holds the cable grommet in place on the top of the housing. No luck after over an hour.
And I'd be very interested to know how they managed to run the extra wire from the stator back up to the Wassell unit. The insulation around my cabling is tight around the existing wires!
Bloody hell, that took some time. I wasn't planning on stripping the whole ignition loom out. Just need to solder now.
A job for tomorrow (when I get hold of a soldering iron and solder).

Yes, that's it.
The white remains earthed. Solder the additional wire to the cut end from the coil.

Hi all, i have had to put my wassell conversion(and engine ) into my cutdown (whilst i work on the full frame) as i have no space for a battery, i have purchased some of these (as recomended on here )
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130404148643? ... _985wt_952 . i know the conversion will work without a battery ,and have run it with out one but i was wondering how do i add in the capacitor? do i just solder wires with terminals onto it and connect up one to wassell red wire and one to earth ?
i aint good at electrickery

That'll do it, hopefully the terminals on the capacitor will be marked + and -
