The paints the new water based stuff, its all thats availiable in Germany.

Ive done a bit more work on the GL, need to take a few pics before updating the thread.
I keep running into problems on this scooter, small jobs that shouldnt take much effort are turning into problems, so much so that ill be selling it on later.
I had big problems with the fork rebuild, mainly down to sourcing missing parts, polishing the runners didint exactly go to plan.
The latest problem is getting the new loomin, although I can get an outer cable through the frame without any problems, every time I try to pull the loom through it sticks...I gave up yesterday after about 4 hours of messing about.
I even stripped off the plastic coating on the loom and recovered it with shrink wrap to make everything thinner....keeps getting trapped under the strengthening support around about where the brake pedals fitted.
A mates bringing an endoscope camera around later so we should be able to see where the loom keeps getting trapped.........
Bloody things fighting me every step of the way, Ill get it done though

So, got a bit more done;
Decided to underseal the body;


Fitted the Cables and loom, the problem fitting the loom was caused by lack of knowledge, theres actually a small square hole for the loom to go through at the top edge of the internal strengthening plate



Finished the Motor, I decided to use the PX80 Motor with a DR kit. The cowls are off the GL as is the kickstart shaft and Kickstart.



Floormat, Legshield Beading, Runners and Spare Wheel fitted:



Got the engine in and wired up;



I Rubber mounted the regulator onto the existing holes in the battery tray;



Completed the Right hand side panel;





Unfotunatley the paint has cracked on the Mudguard, I took it back to the sprayers and it should be finished next week.
Only a few small jobs to do before the mudguard comes back from Paint.
Ill probably hold off putting the tank and seat on till the forks are in.
The loom is extremly long so ill probably have to pull some of it back into the frame after wiring up the headset.

just noticed you rubber mounted your regulator - I would have thought you would be better off bolting it directly to the frame to help earth it, and to help dissipate the heat it collects?

Youd be right in thinking BFG...didnt feel to comfortable writing finally getting out after such a long time Ive been trogging around on Resettlement and the Job I had on offer has fell through.
Ive been organising a small Business the last few months, it was supposed to be a side line job but it looks like ill have to take the plunge and do it full time. Ill be offering Powder coating, spraying, blasting and chroming and may take on the odd rebuild or two.

The rubber mounts are long enough to dissipate any heat and ive got a very good earth over the earth wire, (I checked it with a multi meter). Ive run this set up on a Sprint for years, havent had any problems till now.
I didnt fancy doing the usual mount under the tank just in case I need to work on it. Ive put it under the panel to hide it and give easier acces.
One of the main things I wanted on this resto was that despite having a PX motor it needed to look as much "GL" as poss.
Thats why I wnet for a small block, the GL cowlings fit.
Ive also reused the GL Kickstart quadrant so Ive got the GL Kickstart on there as well.
The only thing I dont like is the 12 volt headlight switch with its red buttons.....
