Dazza wrote:No experience with the Race version but I have a 225 classic and love the way it performs, but I have had trouble with it this year, the rings snagged on the exhaust port and tire the top end apart- I understand this to be a factor of the use of an escorts piston and the fact that the ports are razor sharp out of the box.

I have replaced it with another rapido with a wiseco piston and I took the edges of the ports before fitting.
I am still running it in and am doing it by the book ( or the bit of paper that comes with it!) so I am hoping to get good service from it next year :?

I did get it on a dyno and it had just over 15bhp and the torque was around that figure too. It is a very torquey engine and pulls well through the gears and uphill.
Dazza why dont you put your graph up on the forum along with the engine specs...

But I agree with your comments about the classic Rapido, they seem to go well for a bolt on kit.

Ive just bought a Wisesco Suzuki TS 250 piston for mine, I would like to fit it soon but I hope to get a reline first, hopefully some time next year... I will run it with a long rod and pack piece on a 60mm stroke crank. I already have the head for a Suzuki piston off an old barrel from years ago.

I was passing by Fahron engineering in Notts the other day, when I eventually found it- I knocked on the door to enquire about relining mine- nobody answered
a mate has just had a bit of bad luck with his SR barrel and phoned them up about a rebore - £20 which I didn't think was bad, I might give them a ring tomorrow about re lining and will let you know the outcome.

You should use your rapido barrel!

I have one on my bike in New Zealand - 60mm crank, MB forged piston (much lighter than the asso one), 30mm TMX mikuni carb, Li150 gearbox with 17/46 sprockets, PM chamber (but I have also used JL3 and clubmans which work well) and if you can - a lighter flywheel

I think it's much more useable for touring than my TS1 is and both bikes are good fun to ride!
