Rebuilt the front hub this morning
Firstly fitted the front speedometer oil seal, flat face facing outwards
Next was the speedo drive and bush, plenty of grease before it went in. The internal speedo drive was in good condition so I left it fitted whilst stripping down
Cleaned up the brake pins and lightly smeared with copper grease
Fitted the brake shoes and front brake cam then spent the next 20 mins trying to attach the spring, it kept dropping off the pliers at the last moment. I ended up taking everything off and assembling just the brake shoes and spring, then the brake cam can be lightly tapped into place…
The front brake cam and brake arm fixings are as follows, right to left
• Front brake cam
• Front brake cam internal washer
• Front brake can external washer
• Front brake arm
• Front brake arm circlip
This pic shows the front brake cam and internal washer fitted, leaving the external washer, brake arm and circlip left to do.
All done…
Next up is to refit the bearings, which is as follows, left to right
• Front axle inner nut
• Front axle inner washer
• Front axle spacer
• Oil seal
• Front axle bearing (FAG 6201)
• Inner spacer tube
• Front axle bearing (FAG 6201)
• Front hub Circlip
• Oil seal
• Front axle ‘top hat’ spacer
• Front axle inner nut
The Circlip end would be on the left side of the hub as you are sitting on the scooter looking down. The inner spacers push inside the oil seals
Heres the other end, which would be the brake arm side
Next update maybe next week.....
