I often wonder when you get such mixed opinions on the performance of the same exhaust if it's not just the exhaust working with the port timings or against them. It would be nice if the exhaust manufacturers said what port timings their pipe was designed for and maybe an acceptable upper and lower limit.

This does not make pleasant reading for me.
I've just bought a super tourer for my series 2 and am after the sort of ride garry is, I.e. plenty of low to mid range with top end just being a 'nice to have '.

I was shocked by how little power I had below 6K when I fitted a Supertourer and it would have come back off within weeks had it not prompted me to try it with an advance/retard ignition box. I found that fitting an Agusto 6K unit brought back lots of the grunt from tickover to 6K, when the pipe then comes onto its power and then gives good power and rev-on from 6K up.
I like the power delivery that my bike now has but it really was gutless (sub 6K) with the Supertourer and static ignition, whereas other road pipes had given a very good bottom end on the same setup.
I realise that this isn't a thread about the Supertourer but my comments might give another option to people that have been a little surprised by the power delivery not marrying up with the name of this pipe.
Chiselspeed... never been to see them but they've always done well with phone/mail orders and I opted for one of their variable ignition boxes for my latest bike/motor build, which is working nicely.

PS - Just done Euro Lambretta on this pipe and the delivery, with advance/retard, suited fast touring very well.

Yep, M-Tech is the one that I've recently fitted to a bike and so far so good, functions perfectly and reliable to date.

My 2 cents: I'm currently running a SuperTourer on my DL, Rapido 225, Delly 30 PHBH, AF light flywheel and stator, static 19 degree timing, and the whole setup hits hard around 5k RPMs. For a piston port engine I'm pretty satisfied. Certainly not as torquey down low as a JL3 but it's a lot of fun when the pipe kicks in.

Unfortunately, this was fitted during the jetting and set-up stage of dialing in a new engine so I don't know what settings would have been had I not opted for it.garry inglis wrote:hi adam did you have to alter bottom end jetting when you fit m-tech or was it fit and run at one of the settings
