I'm in Wakefield and mine came back YK which is Leeds so is right, maybe its just who processes the application at DVLA?

Mine came back YK as well,I'm in Halifax.

I've had two previous scooters registered with local plates. That was when there was an office there. But, I suppose now that it all revolves around Swansea you just get what you're given. I wouldn't have thought it would have taken too much effort though to find numbers relevent to your area.
