Hi Steve.
Firstly it's not mine. I photographed it at least 6 months ago for an advert.
Yes it's an ultimate kit. The barrel is the same spec as Jimmy Winters 105.6 mph motor. Jimmy had the large carb (34 dellorto)option and the various manifolds available can be seen.

Why doesn't the charge from each of the main transfer ports p*ss straight out it neighbouring exhaust sub port?

hi wezly i think cam lam have got most of the bits in stock but
i think you may have to wait for the engine mods and pipe ect from
charlie , but well worth the wait , imo . Steve

Is there a big difference between the cost of the standard kit and the ultimate version? Also is Charlie Edmonds building them all or are people buying the kit and doing the build themselves?

Ideally get Charlie or Cam Lam or a compotent/recognised tuner/engine builder to build it but you can build it yourself as long as you stick to the recommended components, follow instructions to the letter and use torque wrenches etc and are confident in your own skills. You would need the special torque wrench adapter to torque the bottom cylinder studs down correctly as well.
The casing porting and uprated drive and flywheel bearings i got Charlie to fit as this was beyond my comfort zone as there are specific requirements to fitting these.
You would need to leak down test the engine when built or take it somewhere to do this and also get it on Charlies dyno when up and running after running on base settings for a few hundred miles.
I built mine but often phoned Charlie to make sure i was doing things correctly.
It requires a lot more than building a standard TS1 for example but the results are worth it.

P.s. Go for the works kit as its only about £100 extra and you get the all the best gaskets, fixings etc that the designer recommends

The works or ultimate kit is what jimmy runs.
It's not got anything extra apart from the new programmable ignition that was fitted at the shootout.
The motor was optimised before on its standard varitronic. The programmable ignition allows you to stretch the band at either end.
