But if you want that 70's / 80's 'bodge it ' look then what could be better than bolting an S2 air scoop to the panel of your GP?

Cooler air is always good to get into the carb area!...... I wouldn't worry too much about rain.............

Works fine on the Black Pearl (Scootering Mag - Sept '11 ish) with an RB 22/fat Mamba.
You need to grind back the top edge of the scoop to help it fit flat on the panel and I used a GP scoop with nothing inside
I fashioned some fine mesh to fit inside just to stop your flares/oxford bags getting sucked in
No idea if it makes any difference to performance just like the 70's look.

Me too,I'm going to go for a Chas Fabs panel grill ,then maybe do the airscoop thing, got a GP scoop in the shed,I did wonder about having to grind it down a bit to get it to fit on a SX panel, thank you for the tip.As Paul said cooler air has got to be a good thing. If our Mrs goes on the back she'll just have to wear water/petrol proof over trousers

And a genuine thank you to Muttley for contacting me with another take on the idea.Thank you mate.

This is on my GP. On the other side it has a metal flap to direct air into the flywheel. Done many, many years ago by a previous owner of the panel:
