Some people say they have suffered problems with the AF flywheel on many different stators.
A lot of people think its to do with the bits of brass that hold the magnets in.
I haven't ever had this problem but i have had clearance issues as they are so close to the stator and i had one on a piston port Mugello 225 and no matter what you done to the jetting it ticked over like a bag of s**t!
I put a 2kg flywheel on and it ticked over lovely. I would consider an af flywheel on a reed motor but as i have said earlier, in my opinion on a piston port motor they are too light.
They look very nice though!

Cool, thanks for your feedback. My ideal would be to get the SCK kit but swap the flywheel for 2kg one. Might ask SCK if they're willing to do it!

sorry for not posting earlier.

we have the kit with a lightened indian flywheel available as well. you can see the kits here:

that is our preferred ignition kit:

*reliable
*lightened flywheel with ~2 kg
*bgm V2 stator plate
*bgm regulator with optional DC output
*bgm CDI unit

and it is a plug & play kit.

for the lightened AF flywheel, we haven't heard of any problems with the V2 stator plate. there were sometimes missing fireing problems though.

one thing on all AF lightened flywheels is that the flywheel catches the pickup. but this was a problem in the 80s already. and to modify things to make it works is dead easy and was covered from the first day in our bgm fitting instruction booklet. the thing to give (or at least try to give) full customer support.

Perhaps you could add the weight of the flywheel in the product descriptions?

The weight of your flywheel will affect your tickover. A heavier flywheel has more momentum than a lighter one and will tick over more relaibly. A lighter flywheel will pick up more quickly as there's less mass to move. The midweight ones are good compromise of both these qualities.

how much gap is there between the AF light flywheel fins and the cowling compared to the indian flywheel?

Im always using BGM IGNITION.
and lighting performance is strongly good very much;-)

with Flywheel is SIL-1750g CNC processed. (Heal Lamp : H4 conversion)
Electric power also corresponding to gimmicks, such as Turn-Flasher and GPS-Navi!
