Just to let you know the outcome,on looking up the exhaust port.i can see the bottom ring as gone walkies and had a rite laff in the barrel,thats my summer over,(cant afford new kit),so stripping down to paint the thing

Just to let ya know the autopsy... (expert view)...the ring peg on the second ring,came away,causing the ring to catch and break up on the exhaust port...only 2 weeks had a expensive rebuild...now im back to the drawing board...thanks for all your help.....atleast il have a nice weekend in the pub,instead of laid covered in grease in a laybye..

Right, after a trip to MBD,S ...a rebore and new piston,i managed to rebuild the top end...its running nice,but just for one little niggle...second gear on occasions,jumps then settles down again...this ussualyy happens when it hits the powerband,if im carefal and just feed it thru gently alls fine..all the other gears are spot on...thanks for any replies.and thanks for the help on the previous matter.

Im curious to know something, how did you guys bet on the woodruff key so quickly? When my woodruff key "dropped" it sheared the whole taper (it left it big enough to fit four woodruff keys) and knacked the flywheel taper as well. The bike started making a "clunc-clunc" sound, very constant and after 5 kms it stopped. The destruction on the flywheel side was.... ehm... breathtaking for saying the least. I had to take the whole engine apart and replace nearly 50% of it.
