Base gasket turning to mush

Although there was some dodgy gaskets out there,the main reason the gaskets are disintergrating is the cylinder moving and rubbing.

I thought this was a wind up.

Thanks, the ones in the picture above i'm talking about. Bought seven, three used and all failed. Still got four hanging on the wall to remind me not to use them.

I prefer to use just sealant but sometimes use gasket to get timing or squish right.

A failed gasket will make your nuts loose, so will knackered stud threads.
