I haven't actually bought or used any of the above, so couldn't guarantee compatibility, but see no reason why not, and I would be happy to fit one.

didn't somebody mention using a unit off a Honda ? That was three phase, but had been rewired to be single ??

The Wassell or PODtronics regulator/rectifier is a unit that's been used to convert old British bikes to modern 12v DC replacing the use of old Lucas systems with Zener diodes, it's not bike specific so don't go looking for manufacturers part numbers, any classic bike dealer will know of these.

This one's (Thunderbird Spares) a bit dearer but I've bought 2 off him and he's very quick

Firstly, thanks to all involved for the really useful and simple guide - even a non-sparky like me can understand!

However, I have a couple of (what might be stupid!) questions:

1) Am I correct in thinking that, if not working with an existing set-up (i.e. for a new restoration), I would need a 12v AC loom (rather than a 12v DC battery loom), as it would ensure the lights would still work if the battery died?

2) Would fitting and Agusto box affect things?

Use ac loom and it shouldn't affect augusto

And you'll be glad to know that after three and a half years my conversion is still working fine, and I've never had to change or even charge the battery despite long periods of the scoot sitting in the garage!

just buying all the bits to go the dc route,are all the rectifier units made of plastic,or has anyone got a alloy one ,i'm just a bit bothered about looks aswell ,if not may well try to build it into a original rectifier,anyone else done this,or was no one else as bothered as me by a plastic box?
