Ok now i need ideas. Just completed rebuild on vespa ss180. new clutch, bearings, seals, crucifrm,piston/rings etc etc. Crank has not been replaced..stator was marked exactly before removing. New coil, new fuel pipe (right length) new ht lead plug cap and plug, carb jets checked out and air mix adjusted.
The problem is it will not start. I have a spark to the plug and fuel is getting through, it is a battery model on points the ignition works well it only sparks when the key is in the right position. This scooter was running fine before rebuild. The piston is the right way round, the choke is operating fine, i really am running out of ideas..can anyone please suggest anything else ? I am not absolutley sure the spark at the plug is completely consistant when holding it against the casing, it seems to spark for a few kicks, then not and then it will, as if something is breaking down, wiring does seem ok. Thanks John
not starting

I have seen this on mine, right after rebuild.
It was an air lock in the carb, fuel could not get through, well not enough to start.
I put a hand over the intake on the carb, with a few kicks, it forces fuel through by vacuume.
it might be worth a try

Thanks for the replys, it was infact the wire from the condenser to the points, the insulation had worn away and was touching where it shoudn't, hence an intermitent spark at the plug..new points and condenser..and fired up..thanks for the hand John
