Anyone at Avon Park sprint in 94?

Post pics & videos of your scooter, projects you're working on, a lovely Vespa that you saw at a rally, or anything else scooter related.

Now im sure it was this thing that was there by Stefano Scauri (unless im wrong and please correct). This thing did the 1/4 mile in 14.1 at 90mph and just left everyone speechless. No big deal nowadays with the amount of cool smallframes but back then was amazing. It sounded beautiful ticking over at the start line waiting to go.One thing you gotta hand to the Italians, their names sound cool on the side of your machine. Stefano Scauri,Ancilotti, Gori etc Now here in the UK we one popular name is "Arther"

Yes i was and do remember it causing quite a stir at the time. As for me it wasn't that i didn't know what i was doing just that i wasn't any good at it.

I did the sprint on the sunday on the old "Scooter Scene" project Malossi rally 200 and had to have leathers.I didnt have any but borrowed some from some guy who was quite large lets say and i wasnt so i looked a tw@7 but was almost getting into the 15`s but all i could think of is "i want a smallie".
Back then it was just affording to fund anything decent. It was quite a decent strip aswell but never been back since as its always been santa pod down this way.

Years later when i was better at it i sprinted there a lot but traction of the line there is terrible and i nearly had several offs.Definatley not one of the better tracks stick to the pod the only problem there though is its to grippy and slows you down.

throw in Rafferty Newman and Geoff Stephens and you've a Bridge Club !

Anyone remember the "Clubhouse" at Avon Park .. an urban sprawl of portacabins all knocked thru and joined together, with Acro's strategically placed holding the roof up !! I'll Never forget the DJ playing Joe Tex's Under Your Powerful Love and when the beat kicked in and folk stomped the floor moved up and down and the Acro's started to fallover !!
Great Rallies thou, we need more of these sport orientated events, be it hill / sprint / race etc, its what I actually want to go to, not hokey and chips in a run down Victorian seaside town thats seen better days.

Hey Soosh,

Yeah Bev and I where at the '94 Sprint, I actually raced both Scauri Bros on my cutdown T5 172.

I beat them both to the 10 metre line then got blown away!!

I've just bought a new scanner, when I have sussed out how it works! I'll post some pics and my Avon Park Timing slips with both my times and theirs!
