hi i have a 150 with the gse 200 barrel and piston run with 28mm pwk carb and clubman runs well and keeps up with most scoots
maybe worth a look .
Imola or Rapido
you say he already has a small block - has he a cylinder?
seeing as how he intends to ride with the rest (so 55 / 60 mph sounds plenty) and is on a budget why not go for an oversize piston / tuning instead of throwing dosh at kits? For the price of an Imola kit he can probably source and build an entire engine this way?
Next step up in cost would be a suzi conversion ... worth a thought?

and if you do go for the imola change the rubber (mollossi type) right away or this will happen :barfy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phycadelic ... 166161177/
how about one of the harry barlow 175/185 kits there priced well (under200 quid) like soullad said he could nearly build an engine for what some of these cylinder kits cost if he,s on a budget a rebuilt gp crank (again from HB) A 28 MM PWK CARB AND A SCOOTRS TYPE PIPE MIGHT BE A GOOD ANSWER , tbh all this cruising at 70 only really happens to a very few people but they prob have to stop more often for fuel so it kinda evens up
also some kits have lots of parts so more to go wrong a seized imola could cost you £250 to put right just for the top end a seized alli/iron kit prob about £100 with a rebore
I know people are gonna say will if its set up right then no probs but how many well set up kits still go tits up due to blocked tank/carb/fuel quality/airleak in rubber or gaskets ?

Harry B was selling SR kits at Peanut Duck, I think they were specced with Suzuki piston and included GP crank with Yamaha rod to suit the Suzi piston, porting work, as normal for HB, was very very neat. Less than £300 for full kit inc the crank. Very cheap for future rebuilds too because the pistons are much cheaper than corresponding Mugello ones.
how about a 200 kit "checked by sunderscoots consultant engineers"

Afraid that option no longer exsists, a certain poster on here took a hammer to it...eden wrote:?

Will be interested to see what it goes for, my rule of thumb is never pay more than 60% of somthings origonal price when buying 2nd hand as if it goes pop then you have no comeback...hasnt made reserve
