Hi wayne , my mates starting a similar project to yours but is stuggling to work a crank out ? what cranjk do you recommend and what lenght conrod ?

Tell him to get a 54mm stroke mazzucchelli, an Aprillia RS125 conrod (110mm) and a crank pin from Charlie Edmunds (The crank pin Charlie has is slightly narrower in the centre.)

Tell him to then get the crank split, take out the conrod and machine the new Aprillia 110mm rod to the same width as the original, also put some oil ways in to allow oil to get to the bearings. Get the crank put back together using the new crank pin and the original shims, Oh and pop out the bacolite material used to fill the balance holes too.

Ive just remembered, somebody somewhere pointed me towards a website where you can buy 54mm stroke full circles with 110mm rods. I'll see if I can find a link somewhere mate

Its firkin luvly Mick!!!!, thumbs up all round, I still need to get it on a dyno/set up correctly but its goes well mate. You gotta lean forward unless the front wheel pops up under power. . . . . . nice one mate!

Its finished mate, I had it done by mid november. The only prob was that we got hit by the bad weather, I stuck the scooter under three waterproof layers and left it in my shed. I pulled it out a couple of weeks ago to stick some juice in and take it for a blast when I realised that I hadnt drained the system correctly and Id left some water in the cylinder. I hadnt even used antifreeze just plain old water. Obviously one of the cylinders that Mick tuned for me has now split. I have another tuned cylinder and a standard one to play with so Im going to stick the standard one on for now as I havent ridden it with this cylinder on and I want to know how it goes before swapping back to the other tuned cylinder that Mick did. Im working this weekend but I should have time the following weekend to sort it out. I'll take it for a blast and take a few pics/video

ps this is my last recorded top speed . . . . 73.1mph



Not bad for a 125cc with a rubbing rear tyre and the powervalve fully closed.

I'll max it out next weekend and see what the real top speed is

I know Wayne there was a little more involved than just that with your crank. From the bearing type-its tolerances.. to pin tolerances ...to the re assembly process.. its really not that simple.
