thing is, T5"s love revs, and malossi 172 kits fly, up geared they pull good mph, reliably ,but rev-illy. so what do you want? a low revving tourer? SIP and MMW do a long stroke crank, and a stepped crank pin, you could put these together with a longer rod and other mods to make what you want, but it takes away the essence of the T5, a screamer that likes its nads revved off. sip also do a semi expansion style box pipe , but just stick a JL3 or PM on it, and let it rip. i"m all for low revving torquey tourers, but T5"s need their necks wringing. :D

im quite taken by the style, i used to hate them but the performance is not impressive after all the talk about them. its all down to expectation and muggins here has been riding a lazy 750 so the poor little thing feels horrible in comparison

i need to ride a vega again so everything feels fast again.

ill play with the malossi for a bit first but i have a polini 208 in the shed so may just do an engine swap if im barking up the wrong tree.

just did a t5 malossi for a mate not long ago. JL rh pipe, 28 dellorto, sip head etc. it gans well. although it is upgeared (21 tooth clutch) it still pulls in 4th no problem.his reply after doing Brid was "marvellous!" i see your always posting about touring low/ revs etc. dont be scared to give it the beans, ive rode t5"s , kitted and standard , long distances, at full chat, they like it man! WRING ITS NECK! :D

I agree with Geoff here but if you do want to make a T5 more grunty a good cheap way is to bore a Polini 152 kit out to 64mm.
You can then use a Suzuki TS185 piston(you need to cut a window on the inlet side).
I did one for a mate a couple of years back and it pulled 22/68 very easily. Very reliable as well.

22/68 , what would the 4th gear ratio be?.
( I run 22/68 on my 172 and it's very very low at 5.29:1 but that's on a PX125 EFL gearbox)

The shito plus wont be helping your 172, Right hand JL pipe should wake it up.

MB no longer offer any Vespa tuning kits

News to me. I've got to set the vespa kits back up on the computer as we are being asked to do them more and more.
