vespa main bearing retaining plates an studs

anyone know were i can get a set of these used in some engines to hold the main bearing in place an to stop it coming through on the clutch side

I made my own retainers but SIP do these now;

You'll still have to tap the casing and hold the locking ring in place with some bolts, or get some appropriate studs and nuts and fit those. I used bolts and it worked well.

close mine is just two tabs one either side of the bearing, plus my casing is already taped cheers for that tho

hi i dont suppose anyone would have a wrecked casing with any of these locking plates in it that they would be willing to part with

you can make some out of flat bar from b and q as there not a standard part

Most,if not all the P's I have seen have those tabs and a lockwasher of sorts underneath.
That's not going anywhere...

thats way i was asking as ive also seen loads of these over the years fitted to engines an thought it was pretty much a standard part cant seem to find any tho , my m8 had told me that there was a guy on ebay a few weeks back with a hole bag of them but when i went on to look i couldnt find them some lucky sod has them lol

they were only fitted on early p-ranges, later models just use a normal bearing seating into the ally casing (probably a cost saving measure) ive got early , and late P200 casings, one with, one without. i think they are M7 studs, a plate should be easy enough to make up, and a tab washer also. make sure the tab washer sits under the height of the nut when knocked over, as it can make the clutch operation difficult. seen this set up loads of times, but its always on early models. again, no definate date of when it changed. last one i saw was an "83 px125, then a 84 P200E, then on my own 82 P200E, so maybees end of mk1, beginning of EFL would be the benchmark.

origionally there was a circlip on both side of the main bearing on early bikes but the circlip retainer broke of if the braring was knocked in to far son the plates were used as a modification
