It is time for me to start up the restoration process of my series 3 TV175.
Pictures of the scoot can be viewed here: http://scooterotica.org/forum/viewtopic ... 10&t=13146
My plan is to actually keep the dodgy paintwork and only do the engine and other mechanical parts. That way I'm doing the opposite to just repainting it and hoping the mechanical parts stay together.
It's also a way for me to actually learn the secrets of the Lambretta engine. My other scoot is equipped with a SIL Stage4 engine on it and I plan not to touch it if I don’t have to.
Stage 4 GP engine LiS:
But that aside, let’s concentrate on my restore project:
The carb was dismantled first and looked pretty fine:
So where the bowl, jets and filter:
The exhaust and other parts had surface rust on them; I don’t know if I can fix them and reuse them again or just change. The battery did leak a couple of decades ago and there are white marks on engine, engine mounts, exhaust and such:
For more information on the restoration procedure please have a look at my blog that I've started to save information on the process for the future.

Update on the restoration, took engine out and found barn hay and a small damage on the case around a stud thread and on the rear hub. Scoot must have dropped while changing tires or respray.

It's piston time folks. What do you think, reuse or source a new one?

I have entered the transmission side. Everything locks very well shaped. The chain is still strong and holds up in i nice straight line when I hold it straight out in the air.
My problem is that I cant seem to be able to loose the nut holding the front sprocket.
Its stuck stiff, no impact nut hammering or 556 and 3 grown up men pulling it will release it. Last time I even bought and tried the conrod holding tool. Nothing happened.
Any ideas folks?

What do you mean nothing happened? did it stop the crank from turning? if it did then put a socket and sliding bar ( not a ratchet ) on the bolt, give the bar a sharp hit with a hammer this should "shock" it loose.kejj wrote:http://tv175.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/76/

Are original bolts so hard to take off? Maybe it's because the bike hasn't been runned for ages!
