i certainly didnt imply all 172"S rattle at tickover. malossi 172"s are renowed for it (as the posts on here show) i own a DR180 on me work scooter, that rattles like a guddun at t/o, but has been bomb proof for 2 years and about 15000 miles, and have seen heard many more DR 180 (actually 177) that rattle. so you have a quattrini 172, a totally different kit, that wasnt mentioned anywhere in the post except by you. cant see what your point is mate. you sound a bit rattled to me.

Sorry but you did when you wrote - "172's rattle like f@@k at tickover" . that implies that 172's rattle like f@@k at tickover
Let's just leave it there and move on .

No he didn't. He said that 172s rattle like f@@k at tickover, in a post which is all about the Mallossi 172 for the T5.

So clearly, in that context, the statement is purely in relation to that specific kit. :roll:

But yes, move on.... after a quick summary;

The original poster was concerned about a rattle from his Malossi 172 kit for the T5 engine. It has been agreed by those that have experience of this particular kit, that they are prone to a rattle, but that this is not a cause for concern. He should ride it as it was intended and not worry.

There we go. Simple.

(I'm sure I've said all that already)

yes I think that its time to end this thread so we can all go and rebuild our 172's a bit better so that they no longer rattle

ok chaps I,ll lock it down soon if thats what you all would like...but before I do,
Does anyone else object to this or have an answer or anything else to say on the subject.

but just to add my two penneth....yes they just are inherently noisy kits IMO,which is especially noticable on tickover,and even more so if fitted with an HP4 flywheel... :lol:

If a light flywheel makes the noise more noticeable it could indicate piston slap as the more uneven crank rotation at low speed will highlight any piston rocking motion in the bore.
Great thread this one and good humored too
