I've found that the ignition on/off works so I guess the problem could be getting the lights on etc. The dealer ( a good one) has sold out on the AC ones and sold them cheap but 'to be repaired' and if they've sold out they must be repairable. I got a DC Ignition switch cheap for 3 quid . It's a SIL one but needs rewiring for it to work properly. Yes, I'm a big fan of Scootrs and have used their ignitions before without any problems but I just thought I'd give this one a go if it can be fixed.
