Can be done, I did a couple for Dave. Wouldn't dother though. Plenty of decent kits for 125 casings now days. Its a bit of work modding for 200 barrel and even more work to fit 200 crank.
A 200 crank can be modded to fit into 125 casings but ur very limited on inlet width.

is there a kit that will give equal performance to a polini 208 (i dont know anything about the smaller kits or engines) or am i better off buyng 200 casings and fitting the internals into it?

hey Stirling, i thought it might be novel, down the road here a bit, to put one of these together. i think i understand what needs to happen, welding the ports up, machining the mouth, gasket face, a recess for the crank and drilling for the studs. is there anything else you found? would you do something differently? fit a ts1?Stirling Hopkirk wrote:Can be done, I did a couple for Dave. Yes a Quattrini MIXL 172 will give better performance than the Polini and still return 45 mpg ( which is important considering the Vespas small tank)
eeeek, thats about 50 miles to a tank
And the 125 case has proper stud config.. unlike the 200... loads of scope... need a long stroke crank to get the cc's up.. I dont know if there is one.

My scootercrosser Malossi '166' has a fair bit of power, although it does have a 60mm P2 crank in it (175cc). The engine, with different gearing, use to be in my rally going machine. Would make much larger bikes look silly.
The new 172 that Mr Gadget mentioned is a powerful kit, not sure on reliability as I dont know anyone that is running one.
