The much hyped Targa-Twin has been a long time coming as we all know, and has involved some of the best minds in Lambretta tuning/development (CE @ PT, Tino, Cam Lam etc) just to get it to this stage........but is there enough information out there for potential customers to make up their minds if this item is something for them or not? Well.....probably not! lol

So, here we have the 100mph Lambretta Club 'Targa-Twin Blog' direct from Stuart Owen. This will be an ongoing blog, that will be updated by us at Scooterotica as and when Stuart gets the info to us. Read below to see whats going on, and hopefully you will enjoy the blog. We'll probably keep this blog locked down, so that it remains 'clean' and easily readable for people that just want to read the updates, without having to sift through 20 pages of comments, but please feel free to start up a new thread for discussions. Enjoy!

Targa-Twin: 100mph Lambretta Club long term test/development

Attached below are the the first pics of the delivered engines, these engines have been sent direct from Tino Sacci in Italy to Stuart at 100mph for a 12-18 month long test programme. The project is to firstly run the engine and evaluate a good set up, and secondly to take it out on the track to get accurate ¼ mile and top speed performance figures!! 8-) After that it will be subject to long distance motorway running and endurance to test its long term reliability, and there will be an option to tune with separate cylinders been sent for development at a later date. :baddevil:

As soon as performance figures and dyno graphs are available, we will get them posted, along with information on how the how the day-to-day testing is going.

As was done with RB test engine, Stu will be taking the engine to its limit to test its reliability. The project will be done between Tino Sacci and 100 mph Lambretta club with full co-operation with Cambridge Lambretta workshop and Charlie Edmonds at performance tuning. At a later date we will try to do a Scooterotica open day or something with it so members get the chance to see for themselves and hope to bring it to the Scooterotica rally being organised at Cadwell Park this year.

Cheers Dan

Tino came over from Italy last weekend for Armandos open day where Stu promised to get the finished scoot there for him to show to the public. He got it back from the painters four days before, worked through the night to get it done and did a personal crash course on how to set up a twin two stroke!!! lol

Hopefully the pics speak for themselves, its running very well and Stu is beginning to fully understand the set-up and charicteristics. Initial results are fantastic.......tons of power and torque, combined with effortless drivability and virtually no vibration whatsoever....its extremely easy to ride.

Now starts the work, Stu will be running in the engine, and then balancing and setting up the carbs on the dyno. Then comes the spinting starting July and the long distance driving. There are updates arriving in the future . The reaction at the open day was incredible and looks promising for the future. Will get more reports on a regular basis from now on.

PS - Stu is running under the Supertune banner which now belongs to him and his wife, as does the business Supertune ltd !!!

Well done Stuart!

Dan

Sorry for the long delay on Targa-updates, we've been super busy.

There is big update for the targa twin which is being done now, and the full report is on its way. I'm away for a week, but when i get back will send all of the info through!

Just got this breif snippet and photos for now, and as i say.......the rest will follow soon.

Testing and set up has been ongoing during the summer months both on road and also at a track location, and we are now happy with results and ready for engine production which starts shortly. We are sorry for the delay but sometimes full product testing takes a while and we want to be 100% accurate that everything is right on such a big project.

Full write up to follow shortly. ;o)
