has anyone tried out the siagon scooters copy of the taffspeed exhaust? they seem to look ok.

I wish people would stop giving these copycraps any business. If it's something they designed themselves, no problem with that, but shops worked hard to design these parts then lose all their business to these parasites. Get the genuine item. It will last you 10 years, easy.

JL were the manufacturer of Taffspeed exhausts and Ian has recommended the JL4 version of their famous race exhaust. Has he recommended any Saigon made copies? Didn't think so.

Did Mr Villiers recommend the DJ exhausts?

Would Frank Innocenti recommend an indian/indion Lambretta?

I hear that Piaggio have stopped recommending the LML coops..

I made the mistake of buying one of these copies because it was a lot cheaper than a UK / European made pipe. It did'nt fit very well ( loads of bending and filing ) and it lasted less than a year. I've got to go with Gp Kevo on this one, pay the extra and buy UK / European made parts.

Realistically though, how many times have you had parts 'made in UK' that have been equally shoddy, and have ended up being wanged to the back of the garage.

I'm not going to start on a gook parts are all awesome tirade, because clearly they're not.
However, I have had quite a few hundred bucks worth of parts from Pat at Saigon, and they've all been fine, or better than original.
Over the years I've had thousands of bucks worth of bits from UK dealers that have been of ghastly quality, that you wouldn't expect from the price.

Now I'm interested, I can't think of much that's made in the UK, apart from MB and Sanderson, can you give some examples?

Well i'm only going from my own personal experiance. I purchased from Siagon scooter a horncasting for a series 3 LI that was too short, a set of wheel rims that were too wide and made from tin foil and the exhaust mentioned previously that did'nt fit without messing with. These were all ordered at the same time and arrived at the same time, so needless to say i have never used Saigon again. I have since purchased a Casa made horncasting which fitted as original, 2 JL exhausts that both fitted without any messing, 3 sets of Tino wheel rims which are perfectly round and made from quality steel, various engine parts from MB and Cam Lam all of which fitted straight out the box. All these items were sourced from the UK or Europe. So i will stick to paying the extra and keep buying from the UK / European suppliers. Pete
