My scooter lost spark. After disconnecting the cutoff switch, trying a different spark plug and cdi I measured resistance from the stator. The green wire checked out ok(~500 which was similar too another stator lying around) but the red wire gave a really high reading (~8000). I ended up replacing the pickup coil with one from a p200 stator. The resistance checks out ok now. Is there anything else I should look at before everything goes back? Thanks.

I didn't realize how vague my original post was. just an update:The scooter is an li150, the stator is a bgm, and I have an Sil flywheel. I put everything back together, I had a nice spark, and it started on the third kick.

I'm still not sure what happened to the pickup coil. The stator is less than two years old. It looked fine and I couldn't see any signs that it had been rubbing against the flywheel.

Was there any damage evident on the pickup? Has a flywheel magnet come loose and been catching it?

At the end of the day - it could have just failed of its own accord...
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....

One thing to watch for is, that whilst the engine is running or turning over, the green and red wires do come into contact with each other as this can fry the pick up.

I couldn't see any evidence of the pickup being knocked around.

would it leave burn marks along the wires? If so, I'll keep an eye out.

Hopefully this was just a one off thing- just a bad pickup.
