Moose's P200E Mk1 1979

Just picked up the p2 today and put it through it's MOT.

it's a little rough around the edged but mostly cosmetic (which i actually quite like). the main thing with this scoot that i was most impressed with was the lack of rot for a 1979. it's pretty immaculate underneath and i intend to keep it that way so it's getting an under-sealing next weekend.

Loving the P200E engine as the T5 that i had before was nippy but very revvy and wasn't that keen on long distances at a decent speed and in my opinion not quite fast enough for two up, whereas i can tell already that the 200cc engine has got some good grunt.

I am intending to run it through the winter on the 'not too bad weather days' and save up for a new paint job and a bit of a refurb.

There is something about a nice solid P2 that can't be beat. From going to the shops, cruising around....... while being able to look around and knowing you'll get where you need to go with out blowing something up. It's the scooter boy workhorse. I often regret giving up so many fine P200s over the years.

Best one I ever picked up was $200 with 99 miles. When it was finished running in it did an honest 70 mph. Of course I was 40 pounds lighter then. I sold it for some dumb reason....... I don't remember now....... to a guy that took it apart, cut it up, repainted it and improperly installed a 210 on it. And after all that.... he told me it did 70 mph on a good day. wtf..? The dude pretty much made a butchered turd out of it. Damn shame.

thanks. i had a T5 that had been modified with a sports exhaust and a malossi kit but it hadn't been put together properly and was always seizing and blowing up.

i passed my full bike test and so my mate recommended getting a standard p2 that's not been messed about with. they're bomb proof and great for going 2 up which is the main reason why i took my test cuz the mrs. loves going on the back

P200"s are great! got two (a disc, and a MK1) and have had one under my arse for many years, (had a few!) they are just so reliable in standard trim. often load mine up with tent, two sleeping bags, roll mats , a rucksack on the floorboards, front carrier with a holdall, and the missus on the back, and just wring its neck! best scooter ever made.

well, the first 125/150"s had an option of indicators, and were points ignition, but the first P200e"s were always indicator models with electronic, to my knowledge anyway, but like all things , they may have been exceptions . the early sales leaflets show non indicator 150"s, but all the 200"s have them. same as the autolube Rally 200, autolube 150 Super, non autolube T5, and electric start T5! they probly just made it up as they went along!

That colour P2 brings back memories.
Back in the early 90s, I once had the inconvenience of having to ride one almost the same, through a forest fire in Greece!
Trees were falling across the road behind as as we rode. Had a bandana tied across my face so I didn't inhale too much smoke.

Arrived at our destination. Hopped off to inspect the scoot. Scorch marks up the front of the legshields!!!!
Stupid thing to do, really!

Very nice scoot, by the way. Yep, standard P2 is bomb proof.
