I'm stripping an engine for a friend. I've just found the conrod small end to be a bush! Has anyone encountered this before?

most pre S3 engines were indeed a bronze bush instead of a seperate small end.

I didn't know that.
However this is a series 3 engine. The deeper i get in, the more bodges and damaged parts i find. I think this engine has spent some time in the far-east. It's owner is going to be a little upset i think! :(

I'm pretty sure that all S3 engines came with a seperate small end, so its not a "carry over" to the very early S3's from the S2's

Crank replaced in the dim and distant past with a S2 item?

Or, as you say a "VC Special"
