What's happening to pistons

What's going on is it a maintenance issue, are we expecting to much from our engines, is it an oil petrol problem or has mark taken his eye off of the ball and if standards have slipped slightly at Mb is there an alternative quality piston out there

One or two pistons of the same type suffering problems in the last couple of days shouldn't indicate a potential problem with them should it?

So the best is still Mb and the racetour piston, and i am sure if mark came on here he would tell us he has sold 1000's and 1000's of pistons over the years and one or two might have had a problem and if it's been Mb fault they fix it.

I did post a while back about maintaince done on engine hours not miles or years and most replies said no never well with fuel quality going down and our wish to cover many miles on highly tuned engines at high speed i think it's something we will be doing.

Keep it simple with only mildly tuned, bomb proof engines. Back to Borgo and cast iron barrels. It's the way to go.

I think your right i have an RT kit on my scooter it's super reliable and quick but i still have to ride with the standard engine boys who never have problems, use lawn mower 2 stroke and never worry what fuel to use

Ive never had a wiseco loose a pin but I would bet money that its happened to someone

Yes me, happened after less than 500 miles on a new piston.

From what I hear it's not just one or two.

I have worn out 2 Race tour pistons in the past year in my Rapido!

First one did less than 3000 miles and the second just 800 miles!

I am using 95 ron fuel, standard tank, either Putoline Classic X or Rock Oil Synth 2.

I still have one in my Imola Kit, but I'm losing faith with the quality.

I now have a Jap con rod conversion with a Suzuki piston in the Rapido.
