Hi guys. long time no post.
I've spoken with Charely today.
There are several things that need clearing up. I shall try to convey what was said to me today on his behalf.

The final version of the barrel/head/pipe that has come from Italy based on Charley's prototype is with Charley and is under test. It will need some minor refinements. When he is happy these modifications will be made then the kit will be released in the UK by Cambridge Lambretta. Also.. this is how it will work. The Super Monza kits here in the Uk sold by Cam Lam will ALL have passed through Charlie's hands to check spec and quality. The kit will be sold complete and not just a barrel or pipe. It will be a complete package. The reasoning behind this is obvious. This is not your usual bolt on barrel. It will come complete with the ignition, carb and crank it was designed around. Components that are strong enough and have been thoroughly tested throughout its development. All cranks will be built by Charlie here in the Uk for Cam Lam sold kits. Also in-depth instructions will be supplied for fitting of all components including squish and ignition settings. The carb(a 30mm dellorto) will come pre jetted and so minimal set up will be required. You will not be wasting money on hours of dyno set up.. this has already been done. Only minimal changes may be required. I'm guessing he'll include advice on gearbox/gearing and of course clutch. This will be the first time such a complete package will be offered with all components designed to work in harmony.
Now... there is more.. The kit I've described above will be sold through Cam-Lam, it is a tour kit... I have said this many times.. this motor is not a rev hungry narrow power band kit. This is a TOUR motor... a tour motor with a large torque band..Its designed to pull from nothing.. However... for those who want even more.. there will be a 'PT Works' tune available.. This kit will go back to Charley for some various modifications to barrel and will run a larger carb. This version will be the ultra feisty one.

I will try to answer questions as and when and if... But before you write please realise that this is new territory for Lambetta tuning. I dont want questions on "is the barrel available separately etc." ..This is not the basis for real tuning.

If this really happen we'll save lots of money on jetting, carbs, ignitions, exhausts, heads, that are always around in the shed when you finished the engine and starts to go as expected.

yes.. as long as the kit is purchased through Cam-Lam it will be ready as 'one' and no further modifications will be required. You will not have to buy a kit and then spend another thousand or whatever having it 'tuned' by someone. All the work here is done. You will not have to spend X amount on hours of dyno time. The development has been done by Charley. He has spent a long long time designing this kit. His reputation is warranted with 4 years of Bsso titles back to back. And how many engine failures in those four years.. none.. just one cracked hub.
So with this is mind and his attention to detail I think it will be worth waiting for.

I guess that if you like playing "russian rulette", knowing Tino and after the conversation I had with him on the ELJ, he will be selling it "untested" as well.

yeah sach,,, exactly.. This isnt 'oh here's a barrel lets try it with a jl4".. this is an all in one deal. The pipe is designed precisely for the ports/head/ignition. One component wrong then it all goes out of sync.. get my point?Throwing a jl4 or whatever on this wont deliver the goods. Wrong ignition kit and you again be cheating yourself.

Ive been waiting for this kit for a long time, I can see the point of a complete kit but I think the exhaust is way overpriced.
Maybe im on my own on this but where does the price come from?
The materials and produktion costs are pretty much the same for all types of expansion systems, R+D costs are also a factor to take into account I know, bur R+D goes into other exhaust systems as well.
Sorry, although quality does have its price, maybe someone would care to explain why this particular exhaust costs a lot more than lets say a Devtour or Fat Mamba?
Maybe its a limited run and theyre hand made? That would probably justify the price??

Sounds awesome Tony, cheers for the info.

Q1: Do we have any info regards bhp & ft-lbs for both the tour kit and the 'PT Works' version?
Q2: If so, do we know what RPM peak power occurs at on each?

Obviously a graph or two would speak volumes if they are available, i'm sure Charlie will have loads from all his testing......if he would be kind enough to make them available to you to post? But if not, just the figures as above would answer many questions.

Cheers

Dan

This is one serious kit with what I can only second guess is a limited production run hence the price, if you are serious about having a real fast lammy then looks like the kit...but with all things that are the cream they come at a cost. good luck with this kit I wouldnt mind a blat on someones scoot with it all fitted.. :baddevil:
