Could there possibly be smooth flow of fuel into the cylinder with this?

It was a one off made by Mark Broadhurst when he worked at Beedspeed. It's the only 8 petal one he's ever done.

But did it work, I'm assuming because Mark made it that it did? And if so, what did it work on? I'm just trying to wrap my little brain around that immense level of overkill.

it really was OTT /overkill,...those reeds were far to big ...no matter how many ports were cut into a say cast barrell at that time ...a smaller reed block would have surficed..
only now with the use of boyasun ported reed inlets are these sort of sizes used ...and only on the big 200cc plus motors...
but hey ,lots of folk tried those sorts of mods back then thinking bigger was better..

Ive got an MBD one with 6 reed petals.

Its on a Challenger 240 engine (one done by Martin at Chiselspeed and Bob Monkhouse back in 80's I beleive)

never had a problem, although I do wonder how I'd get the rubber replaced if it ever goes.

Also think I get a bit more spit back out of carb than I'd really expect.

Anyways done over 5000 miles on it, only problem is a dropped ring peg coming back from belgium earlier this year.

Will throw a photo on when get chance if anyones interested

Martin
