Done bought a lambretta at the weekend, looking at possible tuning options, always fancied a TS1 but have a set of GP150 casings in the shed, as I know f@@k all about Lambrettas, i'm just looking for some tuning advice, i.e what sort of kit I could go for on 150 casings and if I was to go for a TS1 what would be the best starting point, new SIL engine?

No need for TS1 when you can go RB20 (RB200), made for small block Lambrettas.

You can also go for the Race Tour 190, this will run with the carb on the standard side and no reed block. I have an RT 230 which is excellent, running with a PWK 28 mm and a Dev-tour exhaust.

like the sound of the RB20 would this be a good bolt on kit then, no porting neccesary? what about gearing etc, I have standard GP150 gears, but don't have a carb or clutch.
You'll deffo need a carb and a clutch - that's for suretomdavid1988 wrote:like the sound of the RB20 ............. but don't have a carb or clutch.

AF close ratio gearbox would be better option.tomdavid1988 wrote:like the sound of the RB20 would this be a good bolt on kit then, no porting neccesary? what about gearing etc, I have standard GP150 gears, but don't have a carb or clutch.
RB kits need a special RB exhaust and RB 20 needs a crank with a TV length conrod.
Advisable with any kit to match up transfers rather than bolt it straight on.

For a Lambretta 'newbie' i'd recommend somthing a bit less 'demanding' than the RB20, for economy i'd go for a good old fashioned porting job on a 175 or 190 kit! Bolt on a cheap sterling pipe and a 30mm Delly and yer off!
For a bit more 'umph' and exotica, try the Muggello or Imola, you can still use the sterling and Delly, and/or spend a bit more on gearing and so on.
At the 'top of the tree', the RT kit is a bit more dosh and considered fast touring, RB20 is a revvy beast and needs specific crank/exhaust/carb /gearing combos to make the most of it.
Choices, choices!!! ;o)

depends on what you want and how much money, most of that engine wont be usable on a RB and if you dont know much about lammys then someone is gonna have to build it for you a starting price for that engine to do it your self with good(altho not the best) components is £1500
