Back from Yarmouth and noticed scoot was rattling so today had a look and firstly found the rear bolt had pulled out the footboard runner and worn a nice hole in it-bugger.Then noticed the head cowl had split around the righthand vent and also punched a hole around the head long nut, so removed the stainless Devtour and found it had broke on its hanger bracket ,worn out the rubber mounts and split open several of its welded seams-fu*k it! So I now have the dilemma of repairing the pipe or fitting one of my others ,JL3 or Taffy mk4.Motor is tuned TS1 225 with 5.2 gearing and revs to 8400.Any feedback gratefully received

mate of mine is constantly having his stainless devtour rewelded......but 5.2 final drive gear ratio is as you probably know defo too high for a taffy mk4 and possibly even for the JL3 - but thats worth a go surely?

one of the probs with welding is that inside the pipe needs to be clean and i mean real clean or all you do is introduce carbon into the weld from all the soot inside it and that brittle so causes more cracks

I'm going for the JL,just got to weld boss on for the EGT.I was hoping to go up on the sprockets but found the Iwis chain too tight and all my old chains are Indian so don't want to risk broken rollers etc or spend more money. It would be interesting to find out why everything broke though, bumpy roads, high frequency vibes, brass bushes in R1 shock?Engine mounts are ok and motor is smooth, just one of those things I suppose...

If i were you i would also spend some time and find out why everything cracked or broke before i replaced or repaired anything, good luck with it.
