tv 175 series 2 + earth,wont start
mate of mine,has a series 2 tv175,was running fine,now wont start,first of all the battery was flat,but it is a 12v battery and the earth wire goes from the + terminal straight to the frame with a fuse inline,we are getting no spark at the ht lead so i am suspecting the old cylinder style ht coil,but before getting a new one was going to see if the points are opening and closing by connecting a 12v battery and test lamp between the green wire from stator and earthing back to the frame,usually if the points are ok the lamp goes dim,but will this be the case with it having a + earth,i think it has been converted to 12v at sometime,it is a wiring system i have not come across,cheers all.
try to seperate the ignition circuit from all that wiring ! and concentrate on that first, get it sparking (by borrowing known working parts if you suspect faulty items) and then turn your attention to the battery and the lighting circuits.
points had closed up,now running fine,found exact diagram of wiring system in stickys lambretta manual,worth its weight in gold,cheers all.
