Just need to clarify...

chrome plate - washer - speedo housing - disc

Is that right with the washer between the chrome plate thingmie and the speedo housing?

Just in case this doesn't make sense.

Nothing turns when the nuts are tightened. :?

is there a nut on the other side of that spindle ?
or a shoulder ?
generally the shoulder sits in a recerss on the caliper bracket
although some earlier ScootRS ones and maybe the SPAQ ones didn't have that recess/shoulder arrangement.

so maybe wind the "inner" nut on the spindle out and then tighten the end nuts, and see how it sits and feels; repeat as necessary til the wheel is in the right place and it all moves freely...

Only got two nuts Jarv. One has a recess type thingmie to go in to through the plate

I only sat that nut like that for viewing.

I mean just put it all together, several times til it all sits right...
fit any washers or spacers where they're needed to get the wheel sitting centrally.
it helps if you have, or adapt, a spanner to fit on the inner nut between the hub and the link, then you can loosen this off if it all becomes too tight as the outer spindle nuts are tightened...
it can be a chore...
do this without the caliper on to eliminate nay brake pad drag

Cheers Jarv. That bit I sort of get. What I'm struggling with, is what goes where.

I have two nuts One is sleeved, so that goes on side with the caliper because I can see it in the picture. But when I tighten down the nuts nothing moves at all. So I'm doing something wrong. but f@@k knows what because there'd no other nuts or spacers, just a washer.

Caliper mounting plate should sit flush against the speedo housing, there's no washer below the plate.
Does the speedo housing clear the bolts holding the disc on? It's possible that a spacing washer goes below the speedo housing the clear the bolts.
As Jarv says if you tighten the two nuts on either side of the spindle then you'll just lock the whole hub.

then don't tighten the nuts up as much.
tight enough to keep it all in place and together.
but not so tight that you're squeezing it all together and the hub can't spin freely
it will be held by links and outer nuts anyway.
use some loctite too
and check that the bearings and spacer inside the hub are all located correctly

Thank you both.

I was getting the impression I had lost something or felt I was doing something wrong.

So when I have the bits neat and together but not tight, the speedo housing is clearing the nuts holding on the disc.

Now I have a spare washer! :?

have you put the hub unit in the forks yet ? you might need that washer to centralise it... if not, and everything feels good, I wouldn't get too hung up over it
