just a quick question can vespa fly wheels be used on lambretta as I have a few
knocking around px's and T5's if so can you use the vespa stators I know you can
get these upgraded for higher outputs and vespa stuff seems to be bullet proof most
of the time, it will be machined right down as I am going water cooled or should I just
go for a lammy fly wheel from the start and machine this down.

Hi Del I did one in the 80s p200e flywheel and stator with a GP center boss. what i found amazing is that once the rivets had been ground off both flywheels the lammy boss and the vespa flywheel went together with no alterations ;) ( apart from machining down the flywheel diameter to fit the mag housing). and from memory even the stator fitted with no alterations apart from the fixing holes were in a different position.

running a T5/ lammy stator in my scooter. its an indian stator with T5 coils/ piaggio pick up fitted. AF light flywheel, and ducati coil/reg. the vespa electronic flywheels, will only time up right, if fitted to an italian GP flywheel boss. the indian ones are hit and miss. italian holes do line up perfect. fans wise, you can fit a one from an auto, or the old "washing machine fan". i sent mine to Beedspeed for the swap of bits/ re-wire, about 8 years ago, and they charged me about 13 quid. its been bullet proof since. mind you , i Araldited all the soldered joints, and soldered all the crimp ends as well. i dont like the way indian flywheels have gaps between the magnets. it creates a vortex of air that can snap brittle wires. solid mounted magnets (like vespa/ AF) dont have this problem.

AF flywheels are about 1400 grm (i dont find these a problem, even twos up) but a 1800/ 2000grm would be good. ive got a guy who lightens/ properly balances indian ones (CNC PROGRAMME), down to 1700 grammes, but a properly made , 1800 would be good.(closed magnets)
