Hi Folks

I have a totally standard Li150 Series 2. I've been advised (by johnd) to always carry a spare coil as that's probably what will go first.

I got this from Scooter Republic. Advertised as a "Vespa/Lambretta coil".

Do you think it's suitable for a Series 2? (which I presume is still 6v given that it's never been touched).

Best regards

no its not- having said that it will probably work but you would have to bodge it to fit to the bodywork.

I have a few NOS CEV 6 v coils in my shed that I got from a dealer about 5 years back. They are unused just a little dusty. Identicle to the original fit ones from Milan.

£5.00 plus postage if you are interested

Hello Chris

Thanks for the quick reply. Indeed I only really wanted to know if it would actually work electrically. I'm planning to tie-wrap it inside the rear frame.

Thanks also for the offer but I think this is just a "get me home" fix. Based on previous problems with points I think I would covert it to electronic ignition if I ever had a problem. I have a spare kit and narrow taper flywheel from an Li series 3.

no probs- probably work OK as a "get you home" (Indeed I had one of those fitted to a bike I bought and it started very well!!)

I would imagine that the unit would need to be earthed to the scooter somewhere, but electrics aren't my forte (not much else is either....).

Somebody should be able to confirm this

Hi Ben.
Its not an NOS bottle coil but its a self earthing coil. Bolt it on and it is earthed already and should work fine. I always replace ancient and unreliable bottle type coils with this type (although i prefer the blue ducati type) on points systems.

Cheers John!

I will find somewhere to bolt it on.
