Hello peeps, figuring out my electronic ignition system from the distance, I would like to know if any of you Vega users have the electronic conversion fitted and what CDI and regulator do you use. Also, what type of bulbs can I use with this setup? ......... Anyone? Thackers?

Regards,

Jaime

Jamie, i tried to follow Wack 63 with the Variotronic regulator to save on room inside the rear frame above the mudguard. It is a good idea but i had trouble with my regulator and went for the standard size one with a regular c.d.i mounted onto a plate, and fixed through the rear frame badge holes. It's a tight squeeze especially with the mudguard protruding into the frame. I used standard 12v bulbs front and rear and they are now very good, the back light was poor to say the least the local plod pulled me twice for it. I kept the standard horn which works fine, better than my other series 3 bikes with 12v  Good luck ;)

I forgot to say, I like your idea about the varitronic... However I worry I wont be able to mount it hidden like that... It would be great looking tho!!

Lloyd!!! forgive me, did i not get back to you on this? It was bang on thank-you ;) It seems ages ago that i was on with my 12v conversion, i didn't find it particulaly easy i must admit i'm no electrical wizard (not much else i'm a wizard at too  )i had the stator in and out thinking i'd wired it up wrong i even had it to a dealers, he said i had a dry joint but it turned out to be a dodgy pick up box   then fun and games with regulators and blowing bulbs, but i got there in the end.
My latest works with the vega is a reed valve, i have a barrel and reed block i'm just looking for a cyl head and piston then it's off to Mick Abbey for the rest of the work.
Jamie let me know if you need any details on the jetting i have after the dyno or any barrel tuning info i have from when Mick tuned my current top end.
We Vega boys need to stick together :ninja: :ninja:
