having problems with electrics as a few of you have kindly helped. Out of curiosity i asked a mate who is good at electronics to check circuits out on his multimeter. He found that the junction box has 3 wires not in circuit. One of these which concerns me is the yellow to the reg - what actual problem would this cause?

I was going to run another cable to it but should it be on its own or with a + or common. The GG whatever is not longer visible on the reg but i have 2 yellows and an earth. It runs ok(ish) but obviously this should go in a proper earth position or should be with something. no yellow is marked on the junction box.

Any ideas?

completely rewire your bike ?

is it just the usual 12v electronic kit you have ?
it shouldn't matter which of the two Gs the stator and main loom are connected to, either one in either should give the same results.

the usual, mmmmm, its old, 80's maybe. Plastic fan on PX flywheel, blue cdi name beginning with an F,

its the junction box that has me flummoxed when my friend tested it for resistance he said the yellow wire to the reg wasnt right along with 2 other wires (they didnt seem to make a circuit) this is what he said. Now the only problem is the FRONT light and FESTOON. I take it each wire in the junction should be paired just as they are at the front? I must have moved a wire incorrectly but all go into the correct colour except the yellow from the regulator - WOULD this cause the front lights to go?

Remove your junction box and use a thin screwdriver to prise the circular plate out, inside there should be an tin semi circular plate which contacts all the bullet terminals bar 2 for the green ignition wires. If no plate that could be your problem or check they all touch the plate. The yellow is from the regulator and feeds the junction box so if the other lights work then check the brown wire for power at the headset and the front bulb holders earth

thanks, will do. would earth seem most likely as all has worked at different times of late - also when the light contacts hit the headset it sparked as though short circuiting
